The Minnesota Wild today introduced their two newest players, Zach Parise and Ryan, the two prized catches from this year's free agent pool.

Both players will keep their familiar numbers — No. 11 for Parise, No. 20 for Suter — but both appeared on stage with an 'A' on their jersey, meaning both appear to be assistant captains. But head coach Mike Yeo hinted that the letters may not stay, saying "we probably should have talked about that."

The two were brought into the Wild to right the ship for a franchise that hasn't had much success since hockey returned to Minnesota in 2000.

"Both of us are lead by example type of guys," Parise said, according to Pro Hockey Talk. "I don't think either of us are rah-rah guys but at certain times we'll say something if things need to be said... We lead by example on the ice and off the ice."

Yeo agreed and said, "what they do on the ice speaks for itself, but what they will add to our group from a leadership and character standpoint — they're going to play a huge role for us, and we're expecting them to be leaders for a long time."

I've said this before and I'll say it again, these signings are great for the Wild and their fans. They've always been mildly successful, but these signs will no doubt pay off and turn them into a true contender in a couple of seasons. Still some holes to plug, but it's a good jumping off point.
