Chris Neil, agitator extraordinarie, has signed a three-year, $5.75 million extension with the Ottawa Senators, according to the Ottawa Sun. Neil will make $2 million the first two seasons of the deal before seeing his salary drop to $1.75 million in 2015-16.
The deal doesn't kick in until after this season when his current deal expires. He will earn $2 million this year.
The 33-year-old scored 13 goals and 15 assists to go along with 178 penalty minutes. According to the Sun, he is the Senators' all-time leader in penalty minutes.
Neil is the type of guy you hate when you play against him, but when he's on your team, you love him. As a Ranger fan, I learned that first-hand last playoff just how agitating he could be.
