Mike Modano was a superstar for nearly his entire career. But does that mean there's still a market for his services? Apparently so.
According to Puck Daddy, Modano may be open to a return to the NHL after jokingly tweeting that he wanted to join the Minnesota Wild after they signed both Zach Parise and Ryan Suter earlier this month.
"If the phone ever rang, if there was somebody who inquired, I would give it serious thought about playing," Modano told the Buffalo News. "I just feel the way my season ended in Detroit, because of the injury, affected me playing the rest of the year. Everyhting was just starting to fall into place. I was playing catch-up the rest of the year."
Modano said there was a "sour taste" in his mouth over the way his career ended with the Red Wings in 2011.
According to the Dallas News, Modano has already begun working out but said it isn't to come back. "You look at things and you wonder what's the worst thing that could happen?" he said. "I mean, I get in better shape. I don't know what's going to happen with the CBA and everything, but I mean, one more year? That kind of intrigues me."
Have to really question why he'd return after sitting a year out. Also have to question how he'd be able to be apart from this for an extended period of time.
